The Chantilly Chargers pulled off an amazing upset over the Stone Bridge Bulldogs on Saturday by a score of 22-14. Going into the game, Stone Bridge was the second ranked team in the D.C. Metropolitan area, a heavy favorite over the Chargers. However, the Chargers dominated the Stone Bridge run attack and intercepted five passes, one of which by senior Jimmy Hicks (his second on the day) which led to the go ahead touchdown. The interception put the Chargers ahead 15-14.
Cheered on by the Chantilly cheerleaders, dance team, the pep band, parents, and the boisterous Purple Platoon, the Chargers battled Stone Bridge for four long quarters. In the third quarter, junior Sean Huelskamp sacked the opposing quarterback in the end zone for a safety, which monumentally changed the momentum of the game. Afterwards, the Chargers made a field goal kicked by senior Billy Germain and two unanswered touchdowns that solidified the win by senior Will Hill-Pensamiento and Daniel Decenzo. Also, senior Caleb Reinhardt had six catches for 110 yards, which helped the Chargers march down the field late in the game.
