We understand that the school staff wants to encourage students to turn in assignments on time. However, does this new policy, ensuring that students will receive credit no matter how late they turn in an assignment, truly serve as the incentive that the administration hopes it will be?

Play the field, not the favorites

We understand that it’s human nature to play favorites and have opinions, but in an environment meant to strengthen and nourish us as we grow and learn we do not condone the behavior of the faculty who treat the rest of us as lesser people because of it.

Faculty should treat students the way they themselves wish to be treated, with patience and, above all, respect. If you already do so, we commend you. If not, reconsider your options. The only way to gain respect is to give it.

There is no greater relief than waking up at 5 a.m., searching the FCPS website and realizing that school has been cancelled for the day. All the anticipation from the night before, the conflict within to determine whether homework should be finished, whether material should be studied, it is all worth that single moment of relaxation.
